Four Easy Ways to Feed Your Soul

We run and run and run.

Work, laundry, groceries, dinner dates, outings with friends, more laundry, shopping, Facebook... It's not until we find ourselves on 'E' that we realised we haven't put any gas in our tank.

Why do we have to hit a wall before we see that we were on a dead end?

A once heard a quote from a yogi that said, "I have a busy day today, I need to meditate longer."

Most of us would gawk at the idea of sitting in silence while our to do list grows.

But if we don't put gas in our car, we find ourselves suddenely with an empty tank in the middle of the freeway. An empty tank might look like a nervous breakdown, a panic attack or an illnesss. However it manifests, I assure you it will be far more costly than if you had taken the time to regularly feed your soul.

I know you are super busy and that's even more reason for you to stop for a while. Give yourself permission to stop.

Here are 4 fast ways to feed your soul and keep your spiritual tank topped up:

1. Have some alone time. And don't use it checking social media or reading the news. Alone time is quite time. Sit in room alone, set a times if you wish. Put on some light music and just be. Let your thoughts wander. You might get ideas for actions you need to take but don't jump up and do them. Have a little notebook on hand if you find that happens often. Give your mind some space to unplug and stretch.

2. Cook for yourself. Cooking can be a creative and intuitive process where your spirit gets the chance to have a play. The fact that you're doing it just for you is even more special. Take your time, don't rush to finish the dish, experiment and let your spirit speak to you about what goes in.

Even if you have a family and are cooking often. Make the space to do it for yourself, solely for the joy of feeding yourself.

If you can't cook, learn.

3. Dance. Rhythmic movement and dance allows us to access different areas of our brain. It allows the our chakras to be have energy circulated through. Focusing your mind on coordination takes it off everyday worry. Find a dance class in your local area and make it a regular commitment. You'll walk out of there feeling lighter, energised and more in tune with your body.

4. Pray.

"We pray oh yeah we pray.... We got to pray just to make it today," truer words have never been sung. Thank You MC Hammer!

Pray to God about what's happening in your life. Talk to Him and involve Him in your everyday happenings. Nothing is too trivial. In your silent pauses, you will hear him respond. It sounds like a still voice offering sound advice.

I'm a Christian so I talk to Jesus - man, is he chatty. I feel better after prayer. I feel heard and cared for. Sometimes I can even feel wrapped by his love.

With a regular dose of these four fast feel good practices. You will feed yourself and bring yourself back from the edge of 'E', make them regular and you'll awkays be topped up.
